THE PROJECT

The latest creative project from Mirandum Pictures is a comedy mini-series called Fruitcake. Consisting of 10 episodes, 7 minutes each, Fruitcake is set during Christmastime, and is about a college guy with commitment issues. One night he has too much to drink, and decides to end the suspense by mailing his girlfriend an engagement ring - in a box of fruitcake. When he wakes up and realizes what happened, he rushes over to explain, but his girlfriend acts like nothing’s wrong. Since nobody actually eats fruitcake, she had cheerfully re-gifted the box without even opening it. Which is which is exactly what the next person to receive the fruitcake does. And the person after that . . .

Fruitcake revolves around our hero's wild goose chase as he desperately tries to catch up with the fruitcake, and its precious cargo--which he absolutely must do before Christmas comes and someone is finally forced to open the box.

We are beginning production on a 10-episode comedy miniseries, "Fruitcake: Based on a True Story", which will come out for Christmas 2011. Filming will be taking place in and around Front Royal, Va.

We have about twenty-five roles to fill - it's a diverse spread, with roles large, medium and small, for actors young and old. It will be the largest cast we've engaged on a project since out last feature film, Chorus.

The screentests will be held at our office in Rivendell Commons on Sat. June 11 and the following Friday, June 17, from 7-10pm both days. The address is on the "About Us" page.

If you have any questions, you can reach us through our contact form.

We're thrilled to finally roll out our long-awaited website redesign! It's been a long winter, but after countless man-hours and invaluable inside help from Wineskin Media (thanks, bro!), we eventually produced what we hope is a easier-to-use and more enjoyable web experience here at Mirandum Pictures. Let us know what you think!
But that's not all we've been up to. Stay tuned - new videos are on the way!

Filmed in Front Royal

"Filmed in Front Royal" is a one-night-only opportunity to see a series of Mirandum Pictures' shorter films, many of them screening for the public for the first time. The event will be held at Front Royal VA's Royal Cinemas at 7:00pm on September 17th, 2009.

The one-night showing, entitled "Filmed in Front Royal," will showcase some of the shorter artistic movies put together by local filmmakers Colin Mason and Mike Powell, and feature their new short film, "Immortal."

Powell and Mason, who started Mirandum Pictures, previously collaborated to produce the feature-length film "Chorus." "Chorus," which premiered in Royal Cinemas in 2006, showcased the Shenandoah valley area, and was the first movie premiere in Front Royal in 50 years. Powell and Mason both say that this latest event will similarly portray the area as a vibrant, artistic community, but in an even more explicit way.

The event would last about one and a half hours. Tickets will soon be available. For more information, email Colin Mason at colin@mirandumpictures.net.
